Mental Health Counseling · Expressive Arts Therapy
A safe, nurturing space to explore and grow your inner world through therapeutic support, creativity and mind-body connection.
Welcome
Life's challenges can feel overwhelming. Whether you are carrying anxiety or a persistent sense of unease, navigating a major transition (a move, a loss, a new chapter), facing relationship difficulties or a deep sense of disconnection, struggling with parenting needs, navigating self-esteem or identity challenges, or simply longing to understand yourself more fully - you do not have to face it alone.
My practice blends various therapy approaches to create a holistic, personalized path toward growth and wholeness. Drawing from cognitive, mindfulness-based and somatic approaches, I tailor each session to engage both mind and body - helping you build insight, regulation, and resilience from the inside out.
Meet Dana
Dr. Dana Albert-Proos, PhD., LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Expressive Arts Therapist, and educator dedicated to supporting people in their unique life journeys. I integrate expressive arts therapy into psychotherapy and teaching, creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel seen, supported, and better understood.
I work with individuals, families, and groups across a wide range of emotional needs - including anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity development, and adjustment to change. My focus is helping people navigate both their inner experiences and the external shifts that shape their lives.
My approach is mindfulness-based, incorporating somatic awareness and creative processes to foster regulation, insight, and resilience.
I have over 15 years of professional experience working across schools, vocational settings, community organizations, and clinical environments with children, adolescents, and adults, along with more than a decade of teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students in higher education.
Home Within Counseling grew out of years of clinical work and doctoral research exploring how people rebuild a sense of belonging after change and disruption. My dissertation, "Separation from and Reconstruction of Home: A Study of Immigrant Expressive Therapists," examined identity, belonging, and the reconstruction of home through arts-based inquiry. That research continues to inform my commitment to helping clients reconnect with a sense of home within themselves.
Services
I provide compassionate, individualized pathways to growth and wholeness - tailored to where you are on your journey.
One-on-one mental health counseling sessions to support individual well-being.
Individual counseling sessions provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Using an integrative approach that combines evidence-based talk therapy with expressive arts techniques, each session is tailored to your unique needs and therapeutic goals. Whether you are working through anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem and identity challenges, life transitions, parenting challenges, or relationship needs, I meet you where you are and walk alongside you on your path.
Telehealth Only
Supportive group sessions for shared experiences and growth.
Therapeutic groups offer a supportive community setting where individuals can connect with others who share similar experiences. Guided by expressive arts and evidence-based group therapy practices, these sessions foster connection, mutual support, and collective growth. Group work can be a powerful complement to individual therapy, helping you feel more connected while building new skills and perspectives.
